Board

The board is a 16 x 16 square bounded by a grey border.

Pieces

There are 256 sided square pieces. Each piece is divided into 4 isosceles right-angled triangles called edges. Each edge contains a coloured, triangular pattern. The pieces consist of 4 corner pieces, 56 are edge pieces and 196 are interior pieces. The corner, edge and interior pieces have 2,1 and 0 grey edges respectively.

Hints

Each hint shows a piece orientation and location on the board. There are currently one compulsory and 2 optional hints available with 2 more optional hints to become available in 2008. The compulsory hint is already indicated on the board and submission form. Each optional hint is obtained by submitting a solution to an easy clue puzzle.

Puzzle

The aim of the puzzle is to place all 256 pieces with the following restrictions.

• Grey edges all the way around the border of the puzzle.
• The compulsory hint piece in the correct position and orientation.
• All 480 edges matching between adjacent pieces.
